Atlantic Tempest

GT partners “world first” live stream

We’re delighted to announce that our  flagship magazine GT (Gay Times), as of June 2015,  will become media partners with rowing team Atlantic Tempest, who this December set off from The Canary Islands for a grueling 3000 mile row to Antigua across the Atlantic taking part in the Talisker Atlantic Challenge – ‘The World’s Toughest Row’

The ultimate test of mental and physical endurance it will see Nick and Tom
cross the Atlantic powered only by themselves, burning over 10,000 calories
each every day and requiring over 1 million strokes whilst at sea for
between 50 to 90 days. and all in a boat measuring just 9m long and 1.6m
wide.

In a world first they will be broadcasting live from their self powered
Atlantic row, inviting the world to jump aboard with them and find out
exactly what an adventure on the Atlantic feels like, sharing their highs,
lows and progress across the Atlantic in real time and with no holds barred.

GT through its magazine and unprecedented online audience reach, will help
Atlantic Tempest with campaign awareness and fundraising initiatives for the
charities they are supporting over the next year, mainly through editorial,
advertising, digital marketing and in-magazine support.
Tom Parker of Atlantic Tempest said “We are delighted to have GT on board,
their support and global audience will be great for us going forward as we
move to race day. With full access to the Atlantic Tempest team, they have
some exciting plans for our partnership and a special photoshoot lined up
for readers later in the year. their readers will really get to know us very
well indeed!”

Ben Gardner MPG Commercial Director commented “We are honoured to have
secured the opportunity to be media partners for the Atlantic Tempest Team.
Their drive and passion not only to complete this challenge but also make a
significant contribution to their chosen charities is inspiring and
exemplary. The fact that this is a “world first” to have live streaming,
enabling our global audience to follow them every step of the way made it a
compelling partnership we could not miss out on.”

Darren Scott Editor of Gay Times (GT) added “How could we refuse two
handsome men, all alone in the ocean? And naked, no less! Well, it would be
rude not to lend a hand… It’s great to be able to support Nick and Tom on
their journey, and to be able to help bring that journey to such a large
audience, who will hopefully dig deep for Sussex Beacon, Barnardos and Grand
Appeal. I’m glad that Gay Times can play a part.”
