DIVA: The Sex Issue 2012
Last month we decided to get up-close and personal with you. Not ones to beat around the bush, we wanted to get the low-down on what’s going on in your bedrooms. And bathrooms. And kitchens. Cue: The DIVA Sex Survey 2012.
With over 2,500 readers taking part in the online poll, it’s become one of our biggest ever surveys. Having waded through the results, your bedroom behavior is here in black and white.
65% of DIVA readers are getting just as much or more sex than 5 years ago.
48% masturbate once a week or more.
Just under 90% would like to be having sex at least once a week, while 49% say they are achieving that ideal.
We also speak to poet and activist Staceyann Chin on the politics of parenthood and sex after childbirth
Speaking on whether child birth has changed her relationship to her body:
“I have so much respect for my body now; I’m in awe of it. At the centre of me I feel sexier, more capable. I care less about what people or even a lover might think of my body. It’s something sacred to me.”
Is she expecting her recent motherhood to have an effect on her sex life?
“I’m going to have lots of sex. I hope it falls on me from the sky, daily!”
The full results of the DIVA Sex Survey can be read in the Sex issue of DIVA Magazine, on sale 5th April and also containing features on the 20 Sexy Thing To Do Before You Die, the lesbians who say no to sex and Sarah Savage, the pansexual transsexual.
The new issue of DIVA is on sale now from all good newsagents, supermarkets and bookstores.
Or available to download as an app for the iPhone and iPad.
